  • Thank you for stopping by! I believe photography captures the essence of love: an emotion, a memory, a moment in time that might easily be forgotten-- but isn't. The way I capture a photo isn't necessarily conventional... but that's what makes me- me! I'd love to meet, chat, have some chai and sit in an old coffee shop. If that sounds like you, check out some of the images and lets get together!

Dilip: New Artist on iTunes

So… I normally don’t change my editing style because I’ve tried to always give a modern feel to my images…. However, that was before Dilip.

I met Dilip in Calcutta this past May when we both visited for the Rave Conference. He was “the band” and I was a workshop teacher.

I was so impressed with him and the guys. They have such a passion for God and heart for young people.

After the conference, every night, I was amazed to talk with him and the band about their adventures: Smuggled into foreign countries, hidden in trunks and underground rooms..

This is an amazing group of young men!

I’m so excited that he’s on iTunes and can’t wait to hear of more of his ventures!

We’re all so proud, Dilip!

The Crews Family

Time always flies when you’re having fun!

Jantzen and I have been friends since middle school and I was sweetly surprised when he first told me about Brittany.

Brittany is everything he dreamed of having in a wife. Every time we get together, I’m so impressed by her. She’s definitely the total package as far as wives/mommies go.  –Let me put it this way: I’ve never seen something that she can’t do.

Right before I left for my year-long stay in India, they came to my “going-away” party with a HUGE surprise… “We’re going to parents.”

My jaw dropped to floor ! I was ecstatic. I must admit– I Facebook stalked them in India to see some sign of the little growing belly, but it didn’t show much till the end because Brittany is so tiny!

I have absolutely loved watching Jantzen become a husband and  both of them become mommy and daddy. They are the sweetest family and I can’t wait till they move closer to me!

Yay! 3 more months!

Memory Lane

I’ve re-started this beginning sentence at least a dozen times.

Now that I’ve admitted I have no clue where to begin, I guess we will start with today….

Today I was able to visit with some dear friends… I’ve known Jessica for more than 10 years and Matt, for the past 7.Jessica and my older sister are close to the same age, and Jessica’s younger sister Bethany was my age.

Growing up, we were all inseparable.

Spend-the-nights. Holidays. Youth Group. Mission’s trips…. Many of my favorite high school memories are with Bethany.

We had so much fun together! You know that friend that you have that you can just be silly with? That was her.:)

When I was 16, she went to intern on a mission trip to Mexico and I stayed home. It was one of the first trips we didn’t do together. She e-mailed and messaged me on AIM while she was gone (This was before the days of Skype)… and everything seemed to be going great!

I’ll never forget the night my dad called me and told me, “Get home now.”  He had a sternness in his voice as I tried to convince him to let me spend a little bit longer with my friends during an Independence Day Celebration. No convincing would do, and I hurried home.

When I got there, he told me Bethany had been in an accident in Mexico. Before he could finish, 10 million questions were coming out… the most important being, “Is she ok??”

Bethany was riding in a 15-passenger van with other interns when the tire tread separated and cause the van to flip multiple times. Two people were instantly killed and others were seriously injured. Bethany was in the group of seriously injured… and she didn’t make it.

Today, I met all of Jessica’s kids for the first time. Christopher is the oldest, then Bethany, named after her aunt, and Blair. Jessica told them they were going to meet their Aunt’s “very best friend.” Little Bethany was so excited because she was dying to know what her favorite animal was…

As we sat around the condo, I remembered one of the last things she wrote in her journal: “What we do in life, echoes throughout eternity.”  At 16, she couldn’t have been more correct.

Little did she know, the loss of her life would save hundreds more through VanAngels – a non profit started by the victim’s families to educate people on the dangers of 15 passenger vans.

Though it does not make her absence easier, it does give peace knowing that her life is still affecting the lives of others. Today, we have a lot to be thankful for.

Rachel + Jason: Engaged

I am ecstatic, thrilled, honored , amazed- to write this blog post. Did I say enough?

I met Rachel when I moved to Birmingham for a year of discipleship training.

Rachel is ….. Rachel…

She’s the girl you stay up all night with… the girl you watch Fried Green Tomatoes with.. The one you call when you need someone to talk to… The one who drags you out of bed at 5:00 a.m. for a run because you “need it” .. the one with crazy ideas and a fun personality that lights up any room, instantly.(I kinda love her a lot)

Those 5 a.m. mornings came super early for this girl who was used to Georgia time, but never the less I went. Our morning conversations consisted of devotions, frustrations, our dreams… our plans… and quite frequently — “boys.” Rachel always joked that she didn’t know if she would get married because she’s so picky. (I never believed her) Almost every conversation that started with boys ended with her “re-focusing” it back to her relationship with God… “Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37:4

When she called me to tell me she met someone special and was talking engagement I was sooooo happy! She met her Prince Charming (like I always knew she would).

The engagement shoot was the first time a met Jason because of the distance. Rachel lives in Birmingham and Jason lives in Columbus– don’t worry .. that long drive does not keep them away from each other on the weekends!

Jason is an Army Sergeant and wonderful man. I have never seen Rachel as happy, giddy, and in love as when she looks into his eyes while he’s holding her in his arms… Jason is romantic but also– hilarious! I was laughing the whole shoot while Rachel was telling him to stop playing to get some “good pictures.” Haha

They’re both full of surprises and I can’t wait to see where God leads them as a couple. Such a beautiful love.

Oh! Almost forgot– you guys know I’m a coffee addict, but I didn’t force them to go to Starbucks, promise!:)They had their first date her, first kiss, and now first pictures.

Wedding: Bri + Jared

Brianna is a Nurse. Jared is a Soldier…. but their love story is far from typical.

Brianna and Jared’s aunt worked together at a hospital, and she knew that Brianna would be great for her nephew almost instantly. Brianna politely refused numerous times and let her know, “she doesn’t do blind dates or set ups.” After much persistence from his aunt, she finally agreed to talk to him on Facebook. (Just to get her to stop asking)

Jared was away filling his duties to the army but they instantly hit it off.. Brianna admits after seeing his picture, “Hey…he’s cute!” They had to learn to communicate on a much deeper level than most couples start off because their only communication was phone and emails.  Their deep connection drove them to do something “crazy.”

On his leave, they met for the first time, both packed and ready to go on a roadtrip! They had pre-determined a separating point during the trip if it didn’t work out.. but it did!

After a long distance relationship, they are finally together. Brianna says the show “Army Wives” has prepared her for her new role.:)(She may be addicted to it! ha ha)

Brianna and Jared got married in the North Georgia Mountains at Forest Hills Resort. I was so happy to be a part of their beautiful wedding and excited for their  new life in Colorado!

Morgan: Class of 2012

Morgan is not your typical high school senior..

Homecoming Queen, finished high school in 3 years and now headed to Kennesaw State to study Medicine!

To say she’s determined is an understatement.

Our history?

Her mom was my high school principle! (and I shot her brother’s senior pictures!)

I have to admit, I had a minor freak out moment as we drove up to “the spot” and I saw mowed grass…. My heart dropped! ha ha Luckily, they only mowed down the right side of the road and left the left side for Morgan and I.

I’m so proud of her and excited she’ll be joining Sheldon at Kennesaw State!

Things are “gonna” change

… At least thats how we like to say it here in the south.

After 3 years as a photographer and now 1 year focusing on weddings, I’ve decided to simplify my life a bit.

Truth? I love to write.

Ever since I was a little girl I wrote in my journal… I wrote plays that my sisters so sweetly performed.. I wrote about the boy that gave me my first box of chocolates… the one that broke my heart… and the one that I thought I would never get over. (sigh)

Girls, we are so full of emotion!

And for the past 3 years I’ve separated my blogs: my personal blog & the business blog.

Today, we combine.

This will still be a blog filled with pictures and stories you love to be a part of, except that now , you will get a lot more of my personal journey.

Nervous? (me too!)

You’ll hear about my faith, my dreams, the days when I feel crazy and the days that seem to-good-to-be-true.

Today is one of those days.

Never in a million years could I have imagined I would be here– writing on a “business” blog– my business.. and doing photography.

Just thinking about it almost brings me to tears.

Growing up, my parents always reminded of the verse, Jeremiah 29:11, For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Today, I hold on to that more than ever and know every step that I’ve taken is ordered by Him. I’m living a dream beyond my wildest dream: I’m photographing love (weddings), doing missions photography, and meeting the most amazing people : YOU!

The best part? I leave at the end of my day with you and walk away  with friends…
